Youth Protection Training
The Boy Scouts of America places the greatest importance on creating the most secure environment possible for our youth members. To maintain such an environment, the BSA developed numerous procedural and leadership selection policies and provides parents and leaders with resources for the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing programs.
Wood Badge is Scouting’s premier leadership training course. It is the ultimate leadership training experience designed to meet the leadership needs for all Scouting leaders, including Venturing leaders, as well as Council and District leaders and Scouting professionals. The course provides participants an opportunity to learn, share, and experience the continuum of the Scouting program, from Cub Scouts all the way through Venturing.
Venturing has a special place in the Wood Badge program. As participants experience the ages and stages of Scouting, among the experiences is a transition from a Boy Scout to a Venturer and an experience working with an actual crew. Participants have the opportunity to not only learn about the Venturing program, but to also experience it first hand from actual Venturers.
Powder Horn is a high-adventure resource-management course designed to educate adult and youth involved in the Venturing program about the Ranger Award. This course will give all participants an opportunity to experience the Ranger Award program themselves, and become knowledgeable about how to safely conduct outdoor activities of a fun and challenging nature.
