Special Feature Commissioner's Corner Behind every successful unit leader is a team of commissioners whose service provides a wealth of support. Commissioners are experienced Scouters who serve as a confidant, and provide insight into improving unit operations, encourage cross pollination of Scouting ideas, and offer continuity during changes of adult leadership. Venturing Crews and Sea Scout Ships equally need knowledgeable commissioners as the other Scouting programs. Every council and district is encouraged to have a stable of commissioners ready and able to support both Crews and Ships. This support is critical to maintain unit health, and to best deliver the promise of Scouting. The Central Region provides with permission from the various authors the following support items for commissioners whose responsibilities include Venturing and/or Sea Scouting.
