Does your crew know what it wants to do, but not where to do it? Do you know where you are going, but not sure what there is to do there? Or are you planning a longer trip & need to find stop-overs along the way?
In the fall of 2007, Central Region Venturing released a major project to help you in your quest in Where to Go Venturing. Your region committee along with volunteers from several states have created a database of Where To Go Venturing facilities. Facilities including BSA camps, State parks, etc. located throughout the Central Region were entered at that time.
We now have over 3000 locations loaded to our system!
State DNR, US Fish and Wildlife, Corps of Engineers and Other Managing Agencies have been added for most of our states. Two new searchable activity categories have also been added: astronomy & camping.
All entries have been done by a small group of volunteers. If you notice that additional information for a location is needed (i.e. we missed an activity or facility), please help us & let us know what we need to add. Also, if you would like to be on the team to continue the expansion of this data, please contact us. Send info to firstname.lastname@example.org
When you arrive there, You can filter the data by Name, States, Managing Agencies, Seasons of Operation, Facilities and Activities.
Note: The inclusion (or exclusion) of a specific place in this database does not an constitute an endorsement (or refutation) by the Central Region or the Boy Scouts of America. All facts and search criteria were valid at the time of entry, however due to seasonal changes, weather, construction, and acts of God actual facility offerings may vary. You are encouraged to contact the facility to verify any details prior to planning a trip. For more information on high adventure trip planning, please consult the Venturing Leader Guide, Sea Scout Manual, and the Passport to High Adventure. Some facilities may offer BSA non-approved activities, please consult the Guide to Safe Scouting for more information.
